If you’re not aware of the heatwave that’s been sweeping the nation in recent weeks, we’re not sure where you’ve been. Even if you’ve been catching some rays at a tropical destination, you won’t have missed the scores of Instagram and Facebook posts praising the welcome, warmer climate back home.
However, while sun worshippers have been in their element – asthma and hay fever sufferers have not. The soaring temperatures have caused the number of hay fever attacks in England to rise both suddenly and dramatically, with some shocking statistics to prove it.
According to The Telegraph, the Royal College of GPs (RCGP) claimed that approximately 11,000 people visited their doctor in the first week of June, with almost 38,000 going to their GP in the week ending June 25th. This data implies that the rise in temperatures has contributed to the worsening of symptoms across the country, with attack rates at their highest so far this year.
